How to Letter a Comic Book With Photoshop
- 1). Open Adobe Photoshop. Click the "File" menu. Click "Open." Browse to the first comic book page to letter and double-click the page file.
- 2). Zoom in on the first bubble to add text to, usually above the characters' heads, by pressing the "Ctrl" and "+" keys.
- 3). Click the "T" icon on the "Tools" palette. After a few moments, the text toolbar opens at the top of the work area.
- 4). Pull down the font menu, which shows "Arial" by default. Select a font for the lettering. One option all Photoshop versions come standard with is Comic Sans MS.
- 5). Pull down the style menu next to the font menu; the menu shows "Regular" by default. Click "Black." This isn't for the color, it's for the emphasis.
- 6). Choose a text size. Click into the colored box on the toolbar and click black.
- 7). Press the "Caps Lock" key on the keyboard. Click into the first speech bubble and type the words. Press "Enter" to break up long lines and drop to a new line so the text fits in the bubble.
- 8). Change the text's appearance, such as reducing font size, so it all fits in the bubble, by highlighting the text and making adjustments on the toolbar.
- 9). Click into the next speech bubble and continue. When finished, click the "File" menu. Click "Save As," enter a new name for the comic image and click "Save."
