The P90X Training Program is an exhaustive workout program spread over 90 days or 13 weeks and has proved to be very effective for both losing weight and toning up muscles and thus the P90X recovery is often looked forward to by the participants.
The program is strenuous and needs a good deal of commitment from the person who is planning to go for it.
The workout turns out to be so effective because the core exercises are based on a new concept that has been introduced which is called the 'muscle confusion'.
This new concept says that the exercise in the training program is so mixed up that the muscles do not get use to any particular exercise and stops responding! The P90X recovery week is the most looked forward though it does not mean that the week is for rest.
However, in reality, the week is a transition week between two different sets of exercises and it has been found the most people find the recovery week the hardest and the most strenuous of all the 13 weeks.
The reasons for this has mostly been analysed as- the week consists of exercises that has many synergistic movements which people find difficult to do! However, the P90X recovery week has good scientific reasons to be introduced.
These synergistic movements help the exercises of the previous weeks to be more effective.
Unlike what people believe that steady hard training all the time is what is needed to show the maximum results, but it is always not the case.
These movements of the P90X recovery week are excellent for making the maximum effects of the other exercises and are excellent for the muscle strength, power and endurance.
The muscles generally become adaptive after a certain period and then undergo what is called the growth period that is also called the mastery- and is often referred to as the plateau.
During this plateau, stage the ascending curve related to fitness generally comes to a level and becomes static as the body gets used to the exercises and the trainings.
This recovery period is very well needed to help the muscles recover from the micro-trauma of the previous exercises and thus helps in healing.
Scientific studies have shown that after the recovery period, the muscles are well rested and healed and are ready to plunge on to the next stage.
The P90X recovery weeks are often claimed to be harder and are thus often referred to as the transition phase as they help more in the transition of the exercises and prepare you for the next stages.
However, this phase definitely helps to stabilize the muscles, endurance and coordination and of course improve the flexibility of the muscles.
The P90X recovery week often looks like this: Monday - Core Synergistic movements Tuesday - Yoga Wednesday - Stretch Thursday- Core Synergistic Friday - Yoga Saturday and Sunday - play outside
