    • 1). Gather up your red sweat pants and some scissors. Cut the bottoms of the pants in a criss-cross pattern so you create the typical pirate fringe. You want the new pants to come down just an inch past your pirate's knees.

    • 2). Create a skull and bones shape out of your white felt using your scissors. You want to first draw a pattern 2 inches around of a skeleton onto the felt using a pen. Then, draw a shape of two bones intersecting each other in a criss-cross; this should also be about 2 inches around. Cut both the skeleton and the bones out. Super glue the skull to the lower middle of your black bandana and attach the bones right beneath it. You now have a skull and bones bandana for your pirate.

    • 3). Gather your black felt. Draw a circle large enough to cover the child's eye. Cut the piece out and glue one end of a piece of elastic cord to one side of the eye patch and the other end to the other side of the eye patch. You will want to have your child nearby so you can measure the appropriate lengths so the eye patch fits snugly around his head. Feel free to add another, smaller skull and crossbones to the eye patch using the same white felt from earlier.

    • 4). Dress your child in the black and white horizontally striped shirt. Put the black vest over his shoulders. Tuck the shirt into the prepared red pants and have him put on the long white socks that go past his knees. Put on some black dress shoes, the pirate bandana and the eye patch and your pirate's ready for some treasure-hunting.
