Text Your Ex Back - Is Texting Your Ex Good Or Bad?You Decide

102 33
Today, cell phones provide a medium you can use to text your ex back into your life after a split or breakup. Although not a new concept, the role of text messaging in relationships is often misunderstood. In fact, it's often frowned upon.

Opponents of text messaging argue texts often ruin relationships through things like:

1.) Sexting

2.) Text cheating

3.) Destroying spoken and written language through things like emoticons, abbreviations, etc.

4.) Causing rifts from people spending more time on their cell phone than with their partner

These same opponents also argue trying to text your ex back after a breakup will only push them further away. Do these concerns have merit?

Yes, they do.

There are plenty of cases of under-aged teens getting caught sexting, sending dirty pictures to each other, or doing other things over text messages that are considered "adult" activities. Plenty of people have also been caught cheating when a wife, husband, girlfriend, or boyfriend finds scandalous text messages on their cell phone, and many others have ruined their relationships by choosing to start fights inside of text messages.

However, proponents of text messaging in relationships believe texting done in the right way can:

1.) Lead to greater intimacy

2.) Spark romance

3.) Open your ex to the idea of being with you again

4.) Heal old wounds

5.) Develop greater appreciation for your partner

6.) Increase passion and desire

7.) Lead to a better understanding of your own wants, needs, and desires in a relationship

So why are there such conflicting views?

Like many things, text messages can be good or bad for a relationship depending on how you choose to use them. Texting the wrong things at the wrong time can be extremely hurtful and can destroy a relationship. Texting the right things at the right time can lead you and your partner to an entirely new and better relationship.

Your mindset shouldn't focus on repairing your old relationship. Instead, focus on developing a new and better relationship with your ex girlfriend or ex boyfriend over time. To do this you need to be able to forgive your partner and, maybe more importantly, forgive yourself for past mistakes.

Your texts should exude confidence. They shouldn't make you appear desperate or needy nor should they make your ex feel like you are "up in their business". You need to realize you can be ok and can be happy with or without your ex in your life.

As you begin to text your ex back, understand you want your ex back, but you don't need your ex back.
