How to Add Crystals to a Figure Skating Dress
- 1). Purchase the crystals and applicator at a craft store. The applicators come with different tips for a variety of crystal sizes.
- 2). Allow the applicator to heat up and choose the tip that will best fit the crystals you will be applying.
- 3). Arrange the crystals in a pattern on the fabric. Use the tweezers to place them, as the tips of the applicator can be awkward for placement and tweezers provide more control. To keep the glue from going through the dress and getting stuck to another part of the dress that you aren't working on, be sure to separate the layers of fabric. You can put a cutting board between layers or even use an ironing board.
- 4). Place the tip of the applicator over the crystal and hold it in place. Be sure to hold the applicator straight up and not on a slant because it could move the crystal before it is fully glued to the fabric. Lift the applicator frequently to make sure it's not affecting the fabric. As soon as the glue starts to adhere to the fabric, you are finished with that crystal and can move on to the next.
