How to Repair a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000
- 1). Replace the AAA batteries in the wireless mouse. The mouse takes two AAA batteries, which have roughly a six-month life span. After six months, the batteries begin to fail and the mouse starts to function incorrectly.
- 2). Check the USB connection of the wireless transmitter. If the USB device is not completely inserted into a USB port on the computer the system is unable to detect the movements of the mouse.
- 3). Push the "Power" button on the back end of the mouse. It is possible the mouse has been turned off accidentally, so turning the mouse back on may correct any problem.
- 4). Flip the mouse over and inspect the small indentation in the middle of the mouse. This is where the mouse detects its movement. If the indentation is dirty, clean it off with a damp cloth.
- 5). Install the drivers for the Microsoft wireless optical mouse. Without the drivers the computer is unable to detect the equipment. Insert the driver installation CD, follow the prompts on the installation wizard, then click "Install" to install the drivers for the wireless mouse.
