How to Draw Nail Polish Designs
Things You'll Need
Instructions
Zebra Print
1Paint each nail with the base color that you want. Use the regular-sized nail brush that came with the bottle of nail polish. Wait 30 minutes for the nails to dry completely. Add a second coat if necessary, and wait another 30 minutes for your nails to air dry.
2
Pour a little more than a pea-sized amount of black nail polish, or any other color you want the stripes to be, into a disposable cup. Dip a thin bristled nail art brush into the black polish and dab it on the edge of the cup to get rid of the excess polish.
3
Start each stripe at the left or right edge of your nail, pressing down to make the start of the line wider at the edge and lifting up gradually as you bring the line toward the middle of the nail. Give each line a slight curve in varying spots since zebra stripes aren't perfectly straight. Look at an image of zebra print to use as a reference.
4
Add new lines by alternating starting them on the left and right sides, moving down the edge of the nail gradually each time. Occasionally start two stripes in one spot so that they branch out from the same starting point. Wait 20 to 30 minutes for the stripes to dry completely.
5
Brush on a clear top coat to protect the design.
Leaves and Flowers
1Brush a base color all over your nails, or use clear polish if you want the background to be the natural color of the press-on nail. Applying the design to a base coat makes the design last longer than applying it directly to the nail.
2
Dip the thinnest nail brush, which is less than 1/8 inch wide, into the nail polish you want to use as the color of the flower petals. Draw a curved line where you want the first flower to start and then add another curved line that curves in the other direction so that the edges touch on both ends. Repeat this design in a circle to outline each flower.
3
Fill in the petals with the same color as the outline, or a shade lighter if you wish, and wait 20 minutes for the petals to dry. Add a dot in the middle of each flower in a color that contrasts the petals, such as a color much lighter or darker than the color of the petals.
4
Draw a thin line curving down from the bottoms of the flowers toward the base of your nail to make the stems. Add two curved lines that extend from the stems and that face each other, with the ends touching, to make the outlines of the leaves. Fill in the outlines with the same color to complete the leaves. Wait 30 minutes for the design to dry.
5
Add a clear top coat.
