Removing mold smells from the lint trap

• 1). Mix 1/2 cup of chlorine bleach in one gallon of water.
  
  
• 2). Remove the lint trap from your dryer. Clean off any lint, then rinse the lint trap under warm water.
  
  
• 3). Pour 1/2 cup of the bleach solution slowly over the lint trap screen, beginning at one end and working your way to the other, so that you effectively wet the entire surface area.
  
  
• 4). Use a soft bristled brush to scrub the screen surface. Allow the lint trap to dry.
  
  

Removing mold smells from the inside of the dryer

• 1). Saturate a wash cloth or rag with the bleach solution and wring it out.
  
  
• 2). Wipe down the inside of your dryer with the dampened cloth. The chlorine bleach will kill any living organisms that may be contributing to the mold smell in your dryer.
  
  
• 3). Use a soft bristled brush to scrub the inside of the dryer. Make sure you work over every vent hole so that the solution is able to reach mold or mildew that may have contaminated them.
  
  
• 4). Combine 1 cup of baking soda in 1 gallon of water and dampen a clean bath towel with the solution.
  
  
• 5). Place the damp towel in your empty dryer and set the dryer for 30 minutes on medium heat. The baking soda will help to eliminate any remaining odors present in your dryer.
  
  

Checking the dryer vent

• 1). Check the dryer vent to make sure there is no blockage that may be contributing to the mold smells.
  
  
• 2). Make sure that the dryer fan is not obstructed with lint, which may cause moisture to accumulate in the dryer vent. This can lead to mold growth.
  
  
• 3). Remove the vent hose from the back of your dryer and remove any lint, which may be housing mold spores.
