Those of us engaged in creating income from home in Internet marketing face a constant challenge to our success. Not, as many fear, from competition or lack of competence or luck. Rather this challenge stems from within. Many times we can prove to be our own worst enemies. In my own business, I'm daily confronted with the challenge presented to me by my own self... by my own mind and habits built up over years and years.
The fact is that the road map to success in making money online is fairly clear and simple. People have been doing it for years now, and if you simply find someone successful at it and follow them... you'll be successful as well.
The problem that afflicts most folks is really a lack of the proper success mindset. All businesses have ups and downs. Sometimes things go well and sometimes they don't. However, the person who can retain their focus, dedication... and a proper business mindset, without getting waylaid by doubt, negativity, and fear... will find success at the end of the rainbow.
Here are a few things to pay attention to that will help you keep your focus and success mindset.
Have A Strategic Business Plan
Too many people start to build their home business without understanding the most important element: their "why". Take some time and list all the reasons why you want a home business in the first place. List general reasons as well as reasons specific to the business you've chosen to promote. Decide what the important items are, and also how you;re going to go about achieving them. When things get tough at times, having a clear idea of just why you want to succeed will go a long way to helping you keep your business focus.
Have A Written Mission Statement
Once you have your "why" clear... on paper and not just in your mind... write up a very succinct and particular "Mission Statement". This is building and amplifying your "why" step, and it's very powerful. A good Mission Statement can be very short and to the point. You might write something like, "To create income from home, I will focus on building my mailing list and meeting new people to invite to join me in my network marketing business, while maintaining my good health and improving relationships with friends and family". Once you have your Mission Statement, keep it posted right in front of you. It will come in handy on those days when your mind wants to go into those dark places.
Nurture A Success Mindset
"What if I can't"? That's the insidious, mind-killer question. It stems from fear and we all ask it of ourselves at times. If you find yourself asking this question it's time to do some really focused work on your mindset. If you've gotten to the point where this monster is stalking the hallways of your head... take a break. Refresh yourself. Meditate. Hike. Do whatever you need to help you let go. Remember: the only thing that brings this question up is fear... and fear is nonconstructive and unrealistic. It's not based in factual reality. It rests on the fantastical "what if", and is not based on how you or the Universe really work. Once you've Let Go a bit, then return to your "Why" and your "Mission Statement" with fresh eyes. I promise you, you'll see them afresh and be re-energized to begin anew.
If you keep in mind those three items and strategies, you'll provide a firm foundation for yourself as you move forward.

Your mind... and the tricks it can play while trying to convince you that you'll never get the success or create the income you want.
