Weight Loss Trends - How Do People Lose Weight Today
The wish to lose weight is not very old. This might be due to the fact, that there weren't so many overweight people just 50 years ago, but anyway: Over the last decades, the amount of overweight people in the United States has increased dramatically and with that the amount of different ways to lose weight.
The oldest well known ways are doing sports and eating low carb food, but if it was that plain and simple, we wouldn't have dozens and hundreds of different diets and weight loss supplements out there. During the last ten years the biggest trend was to lose weight on the Atkins diet. The Atkins diet has shown to deliver some great results, however just months after it became popular, the side effects of it became known. The most severe side effect is the stron yoyo-effect of the Atkins diet. Never the less, the Atkins diet is still very popular as people still tend not to care about what's gonna be after the diet is over, they just want to lose weight quickly and they don't believe, that it might have something to do with the diet, they've been on, when they start gaining all their weight back.
Some of the newer trends are for example the 17 Day Diet by Dr. Mike Moreno, that has taken America by storm in 2011. What is it, that makes the 17 Day Diet so special. Well the special thing about that diet is, that it is splitted in 17 day intervalls. Each intervall has a different meal plan and different sportive activities to offer, so that no one will ever get bored on the diet. The basics however are still the same: eat a good combination of low-carb foods to reduce the amount of carbs, that you're eating and to increase the metabolism. Additionally do sports to support fat burning. So in conclusion we can say: Is it Worth a try? - Definitely! Is it something really new? - Not really.
Another Trend is the so called HCG diet. HCG is a pregnancy hormone, that is a strong appetite surpressant. I won't go into how it works exactly, but all you need to know for this, is that is able to reduce the appetite to an extremely low level. So basically what you do is, you get that hormone injected under your skin and you won't feel the need to eat more, than about 500 carbs a day, which is extremely low. In comparison a normal grown-up human needs about 1500 carbs a day. Is it effective? - YES, it is very effective! Is it innovative? - It is sort of innovative, but it is basically an appetite surpressant. People have been buying appetite surpressants for decades now, but HCG is the only one that seems to be able to truly work. In most cases however you won't get it without a prescription from your doctor.
Is it safe? Well there are no known side effects of HCG yet, but it's obvious, that it cannot be really healthy to eat only a third of what you actually need, at least if you do it for more, than a couple of weeks.
There are some other trends in weight loss, but the 17 Day Diet and HCG diets are probably the biggest ones in 2011. Both powerful, but still the basics haven't changed.
