How to Build Easy Garden Benches to Hold Plants
- 1). Cut the pine planks into three 6-foot sections using a circular saw. Cut two additional planks to 2 feet in length.
- 2). Nail the 2-foot planks to the ends of one of the 6-foot planks. The 2-foot planks are the legs. Make the exterior edges of the 2-foot planks flush with the ends of the 6-foot plank. Use a nail gun and 2-inch nails to secure the pieces together. Four nails across the top of the 6-foot plank into the ends of each 2-foot plank is sufficient to maintain stability of the bench.
- 3). Attach the other 6-foot planks to the front and back of the bench. The ends of the planks should be flush with the exterior edges of the 2-foot planks. The edges of the added planks should be flush with the top surface of the bench. Place a 2-inch nail every six inches through the exterior edge of the side planks into the side of the top plank. Nail four nails through the ends of the planks into the leg planks.
- 4). Paint or stain the bench as desired.
