How to Build an Inexpensive Outdoor Fire Pit
- 1). Dig out a 1-inch-deep area of dirt and grass 64 inches wide and 64 inches long.
- 2). Lay down the 16-inch by 16-inch pavers to make a 64-inch-long by 64-inch-wide square with a dirt square in the middle that is 32 inches by 32 inches.
- 3). Cut the legs off the bottom of an old round Weber grill.
- 4). Dig a hole in the center of the pavers. The hole needs to be as deep as the grill bottom and wide enough in diameter to fit the grill bottom into the ground. Make the hole a little larger than these measurements so you have room to center the grill.
- 5). Place the grill in the hole. Use a tape measure to center the grill between the pavers. Fill in around the sides of the grill with the leftover dirt. Pat the dirt down so that the grill is set tightly in the ground.
- 6). Cover the dirt between the grill and the paver blocks with one bag of lava rocks. The lava rocks add to the visual appeal of the in-ground fire pit.
