Tips on Decorating a Eucalyptus Wreath
- Give your eucalyptus wreath a bit of holiday cheer by adding sprigs of red berries into the mix. Tuck stems of red holly or other berries carefully between the eucalyptus stems around the entire wreath. Space the berries out evenly to create an eye-catching mix of red and green. Use floral wire to attach the berry stems to the wreath frame. Spray silver or gold spray paint lightly over the eucalyptus leaves to add a shimmering look. Add a large red bow or wrap a long red ribbon loosely around the wreath's surface.
- Brighten up your eucalyptus wreath with dried or silk flowers. Cut the stems to shorten their lengths and apply a dab of hot glue to their ends. Press the ends into the wreath's base and hold until the glue dries to secure them in place. Cluster the flowers in small groups and tuck them over, under and around the eucalyptus stems. Add as many flowers as you desire to create a floral piece accented by a background of eucalyptus.
- Create a rustic, harvest eucalyptus wreath using faux fruit and raffia. Choose fruits such as apples, plums or pears. The golden and reds will work well with the green of the eucalyptus stems to create a wreath that can be displayed during late summer or early autumn. Use floral wire to attach the fruit in clusters of three around the wreath. Be careful not to overwhelm the wreath by adding too much fruit. Finish the wreath by gathering a group of raffia strings together tied in a bow and glue it off-center at the top of the wreath.
- Decorate your eucalyptus wreath with color. Use spray paint to turn the eucalyptus branches into a vibrant blue, green, orange, pink, white or red. Choose the color based on holidays, preference or existing home decor. The paint will be decoration enough and will highlight the wreath while leaving the unique texture of the eucalyptus leaves untouched. Add a bow of decorative ribbon to highlight the wreath's new color.
