Golf in Miniature for the Whole Family
Florida is home to over 1,250 golf courses and attracts millions of visitors every year. Some visitors are drawn to Orlando for DisneyWorld and its attractions, others only have golf on their mind!
Whilst there are plenty of immaculate golf courses at DisneyWorld, the nearby exclusive villa resorts and in the Orlando area in general, kids will probably be much happier playing Universal Orlando's Hollywood Drive-In Golf.
What will the family love about Hollywood Drive-In Golf?
As with every attraction at Universal it is heavily themed, which definitely adds to its appeal. There are two miniature golf courses to play: The Haunting of Ghostly Greens and Invaders from Planet Putt. Both courses feature just enough eerie and spooky themeing to raise the enjoyment factor, without being too scary for the little ones to enjoy.
What to expect from The Haunting of Ghostly Greens course
Firstly it's set in a fun, spooky graveyard complete with lawn sculptures reminiscent of those seen in the Edward Scissorhands movie. During play, the 18-hole course takes visitors on a haunted journey accompanied by a fitting soundtrack, which includes the Monster Mash and the Rocky Horror Picture Show's Time Warp. Expect to encounter tombstones, a haunted house, a creepy forest, a hedge maze and some other spooky surprises along the way.
What to expect from the Invaders from Planet Putt course
The theme is 1950s sci-fi, so expect to see alien-related props including a bemused, abducted cow, the famous Area 51, a UFO and plenty of little green men. Again a very fitting soundtrack plays along the 18-hole course, which features great songs including the eerie Twilight Zone theme music.
When is the best time to go?
Universal Orlando's Hollywood Drive-In Golf is open every day of the week from 9am to 2am. However, as both courses feature neon lighting and lit props it's definitely more atmospheric at night, if a little more challenging to make those tricky shots.
How much does it cost?
Visitors can either purchase the Single Feature and play one 18-hole course or the Double Feature and play both courses, which amounts to 36 holes in total. The Single Feature costs $13.99 for adults and $11.99 for children aged 3-9. The Double Features costs $24.49 for adults and $20.99 for children. Visitors who have purchased the Single Feature and played one course are also able to purchase an Extra Feature afterwards. This allows them to play the second course at a slightly discounted rate of $10.49 for adults and $8.99 for children.
What souvenirs are available?
Currently Hollywood Drive-In Golf offers a free T-shirt when the Double Feature is purchased, but they are also available to buy for every member of the family! Novelty golf balls are also available. CityWalk itself has over 60 shops to spend those holiday dollars in.
Where can we grab a bite to eat?
Universal's CityWalk has over 50 restaurants to choose from, so families won't go hungry here. Families can choose from Character Dining, quick bites, fine dining and more. But that's not all; CityWalk also has plenty of entertainment from live music venues to nightclubs.
Where is it again?
This great family attraction can be found at Universal's CityWalk, which is at 6000 Universal Boulevard, Orlando, Florida. Hollywood Drive-In Golf is is located between Bubba Gump Shrimp and the AMC Cineplex Theater.
