Autumn Wreath

• Children can use real autumn leaves to craft decorative wall and door wreaths. Display your child's handiwork throughout the season as a festive touch. Have kids pick up vibrantly hued fall leaves from your yard or a park. You can also purchase artificial autumn leaves from a craft store as an alternative. Use a hot glue gun to attach the leaves all around the perimeter of a straw wreath base. Completely cover the base with leaves, overlapping the foliage for a full look. Decorative Pins

• Kids will enjoy making decorative straw hat pins for their teachers, moms and other female relatives. To make a pin like the one described on the Kaboose website, enhance a mini, 4-inch straw hat with craft items. Use a hot glue gun to attach tiny gold, orange and burgundy silk flowers, along with faux berries, around the rim of the hat. Glue the back of the hat to a pin backing so kids and gift recipients can wear them on their shirts, sweaters and jackets.
  
  

Acorn Cap Frame

• Acorn cap-adorned picture frames are easy for 10-year-olds to create, and they make festive home decor as well. Start with a plain, wooden frame, which you can purchase from a craft supply store. Gather several acorns and remove their caps; the number of acorns you need depends on the size of the frame. Rinse the acorn tops in a bowl of water to remove any bugs or dirt. Allow the caps to air dry, or bake them in an oven on 225 degrees Fahrenheit for 40 minutes for your child. Use white craft glue to attach the caps all around the perimeter of the frame.
  
  

Painted Pumpkins

• Kids can decorate mini pumpkins by painting, rather than carving, them. Use acrylic paints and small paintbrushes to customize the small orange or white pumpkins with stripes, polka dots, spider webs or names. For a touch of sparkle, sprinkle glitter onto the paint while it is still wet. Glamorize the pumpkins by attaching plastic gems and rhinestones to them with white craft glue.
