How to Remove Chocolate Stains on Furniture
- 1). Wait for the chocolate to harden. Scrape the hardened chocolate off with a dull butter knife.
- 2). Saturate the stain with a household dish detergent. Allow the detergent to sit for 10 minutes.
- 3). Blot the area with a clean washcloth.
- 4). Rinse the stain with hot water. Blot the area with hot water, and then blot it dry with a clean washcloth. If the stain still exists, you can use hydrogen peroxide or ammonia to remove it.
- 5). Blot an inconspicuous area on the furniture with hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide can change the color of the furniture. If the furniture does not change colors, blot the stain with the hydrogen peroxide and then blot the area with clean and warm water to rinse away the peroxide. If the peroxide reacts with the furniture, or if you still notice a stain, try ammonia.
- 6). Combine 1 tbsp. of ammonia with 2 cups of warm water. Test an inconspicuous area to ensure that it does not harm the furniture. Blot the ammonia onto the stain with a cloth. Use a clean cloth soaked in water to rinse the area, and then blot the area dry with another cloth.
