What Arnold Thinks About When He Does Situps
And who knows? This might encourage you to get in shape because you might find it more financially rewarding than you ever realized! At least, it will encourage you to think about making money after you think about shaping up your abs.
An interviewer asked Arnold Schwarzenegger, at that time the world's premier bodybuilder, what he thought about while he did situps. The future governator replied, How I'm going to make my next $10,000! And given the millions Arnold earned since then, it's pretty safe to assume that he wasn't kidding!
This is an example of a positive distraction that was doubly positive.
Athletes often distract the conscious mind while training. Many hear music, repeat affirmations, or perform some other mental exercise that helps focus the conscious mind elsewhere and let the unconscious power actions unfettered and unimpeded by conscious thought.
Arnold raised this to an art form by choosing his positive distraction for two good reasons.
His imaginings about his next $10,000 helped him do situps and prime his mind for more money.
This strategy worked for Arnold in a very big way and certainly outperformed music or affirmations!
Here's how to apply this concept to a workout routine or any other activity that you perform with a reasonable degree of muscle memory or unconscious proficiency. And I'm going to assume that, like Arnold, your positive distraction will involve your next $10,000!
Ideally, this should be a routine activity that you can do with little conscious thought such as exercising, mowing the lawn, or doing routine housework.
Here's the technique I designed based on Arnold's strategy.
Before you begin your activity, take a deep breath. Elevate your gaze as if looking at an imaginary point just above a distant horizon.
Let your mind form a picture of $10,000 in cash, a $10,000 check, or whatever image that works for you. Then imagine what your next $10,000 means to you in terms of what you would buy and what this purchase does for you mentally and emotionally. Let the image or images come into focus and clarity. Allow yourself to feel the feelings of what this $10,000 will do for you.
Now get started. Let your unconscious mind direct your activity while you engage your imagination with these questions:
What's the quickest and easiest way to make my next $10,000?
What can I do to make my next $10,000 my fastest $10,000?
What new idea can help me make this $10,000 with a simple, yet creative flair that virtually insures the next $10,000 after that is even easier?
What mental images and movies will prime my mind to make this $10,000 the start of massive success?
While your mind is occupied, you will discover that your activity goes pretty well too. This is multi-tasking with muscle. Lots of financial muscle!
