How to Prevent Mildew on Outside Paint
- 1). Spray down the exterior walls with a garden hose to remove dirt. Soil and dirt on exterior walls provides the perfect breeding grounds for mildew to grow and spread.
- 2). Use a ladder to access hard-to-reach areas of the paint. Use the garden house again to spray down the paint. Wipe away any dirt that still remains. Do this at least once a month.
- 3). Apply a waterproof and mildew and mold-resistant paint to the walls. Mildew-resistant paint can be found at most hardware and paint stores and comes in a wide range of colors. This type of paint is formulated with fungicides to help combat and prevent mildew from growing on your walls.
