How to Open Gmail With Outlook Express
- 1). Open a browser and log into your Gmail account. Click "Settings" at the top of the page and select the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab. Put a radio button in the circle next to "Enable POP for all mail" and click the "Save Changes" button.
- 2). Launch your Outlook Express. Click "Tools" in the main menu bar. Scroll down and select "Accounts." Click the "Add" button and then select "Mail."
- 3). Type your Gmail e-mail address in the field in the window and click the "Next" button. Click "POP3" in the drop-down menu. Type "pop.gmail.com" in the incoming mail server field and type "smtp.gmail.com" in the outgoing mail field. Click the "Next" button.
- 4). Type your account name and password in the fields in the next window. Put a check mark in the box next to "Remember password." Click the "Next" button. Click the "Finish" button.
- 5). Hit the "Mail" tab. Highlight the Gmail e-mail account that you just created in the account list. Hit the "Properties" button. Click the "Advanced" tab.
- 6). Put a check mark in the boxes next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)." Type "465" for the server port number for outgoing mail. Type "995" for the server port number of incoming mail if it does not change automatically. Click the "Apply" button and then the "OK" button.
- 7). Click the "Servers" tab. Put a check mark in the box next to "My server requires authentication." Click the "OK" button.
