Homemade Wood Floor Polish
- 1). Combine 1/2 oz. beeswax and 1/2 oz. carnauba wax in a glass measuring cup and place the cup in the center of a medium-sized saucepan. Fill the pan with enough water to come about two inches up the side of the measuring cup.
- 2). Turn the heat on medium-low and bring the water to a gentle boil. Allow the water to continue boiling, stirring occasionally, until the waxes are completely melted, about five minutes.
- 3). Add 4 oz. mineral oil to the melted wax and stir well to combine. Heat for an additional one to two minutes before removing the measuring cup from the boiling water. Wear gloves or use a potholder to lift the cup out of the water.
- 4). Transfer the oil and wax mixture to a blender, and secure the lid in place. Blend on low speed for two to three minutes, until smooth and creamy. Blending emulsifies the oil and wax, creating a rich, thick, homemade floor polish.
- 5). Spoon the polish into a glass jar with tight-fitting lid, label with the contents, and store in a cool, dark place when not in use. The polish will keep indefinitely when stored out of direct sunlight.
- 6). To use your homemade wood floor polish, dab some of the cream onto a soft cotton cloth or rag and rub into the floor. Buff and polish the floor until the oils have been thoroughly worked in. Repeat as needed.
