How to Change a Sager 2200C CMOS Battery
- 1). Turn off the laptop, unplug the power cord and remove the main battery. Remove the battery by unscrewing the two battery cover retaining screws, removing the battery cover and sliding the battery out of its compartment.
- 2). Remove the keyboard by pressing the four keyboard latches along the top of the keyboard and lifting the keyboard. As you lift the keyboard, carefully detach the keyboard ribbon from the connector on the motherboard. The four latches are located above the "ESC," "F6," "F10" and "Pause Break" keys.
- 3). Remove the heat sink assembly by unscrewing the four retaining screws and lifting the assembly from the case. The screws are located at the top right corner of the heat sink assembly, with the top left screw located under the spot the "NumLk" key on the keyboard resided. The other three screws are located nearby on the assembly and look like the first screw. The CMOS battery is visible once the heat sink assembly is removed.
- 4). Slide the CMOS battery out of its retaining clip and slide the replacement CMOS battery into the clip.
- 5). Replace the heat sink assembly and screw in the four retaining screws.
- 6). Reconnect the keyboard ribbon to its connector on the motherboard. Rress the keyboard back into place by lining up the keyboard nubs along the bottom row of keys with the proper slots on the case. Lower the top of the keyboard into place and press down next to each keyboard latch to snap the keyboard into place.
- 7). Reinsert the main battery into the battery compartment. Replace the battery cover and battery cover retaining screws.
- 8). Plug in the laptop, open it and press the power button. Reset the BIOS settings after replacing the CMOS battery. Access the BIOS setup by hitting the "F2" key when first booting the laptop.
