After this the multi-port valve should turned to 'Rinse' position for 15-20 seconds.
Both the process should be repeated, until the multi-valve is completely clean.

The sand filter may have a slide valve or a multi-port valve; you need to identify it, as both have different methods of being cleaned.
To clean the one with side valve, you need to turn the pump water off and roll the backwash hose out.
Unlock the plunger with the help of the 'T' handle, and turn the power on and let the pump run for around 5 minutes or until the water from the back flush hose gets clean.
After this you can get the 'T' handle back to its locked position as the backwash is successfully completed and the filter is ready to be uses again.
