By virtue of their fame and wealth, celebrities tend to live in mansions the size of small nations. While us non-celebrities live in diminutive homes because it's all we can afford, a few celebrities choose to live in small homes. Some, like actor Vincent Kartheiser, live in houses that are tiny by any standard (850 square feet). Others, like Warren Buffett, live in normally sized suburban homes that are incredibly small relative to their staggering wealth.
Omaha, NE-based Warren Buffett has, over the years, been the world's richest person. But sometimes he has dipped to third place, below Bill Gates and Carlos Slim. Poor Warren.
Buffett is famously humble about his wealth, wearing off-the-rack suits, driving a mere Cadillac, and most significantly, pledging to give away 99% of his wealth upon his death.
Buffett's low-key life extends to his Omaha house, which he bought in 1958 for $31,500. This house doesn't exactly qualify for membership in the Tiny House Movement, as it is a regular suburban home. But relative to Buffett's mind-blowing wealth--$58 billion at last count--it is the size of a postage stamp.
Mad Men's favorite bad guy Pete Campbell is played by Vincent Kartheiser, who happens to be the patron saint of the celebrities-in-small-houses meme. Kartheiser does have real fame and wealth, as well as an authentically small house.
Under his close supervision, his 850 square foot Hollywood house was remodeled by designer and builder Funn Roberts. Usage of space is carefully determined, no square foot going to waste. The bed even lifts up and out of the way with the assistance of a 300 pound counterweight

Now, living in a 1,000 square foot trailer in Malibu's Paradise Cove, Shadyac is far happier than ever before. He loves the park's communal, social feel, exulting in the fact that it takes him 20 minutes to take out the trash because he always ends up talking to people along the way.
