MS Access 2003 Forms Won't Open in Access 2007
- 1). Open Microsoft Access 2007, click the Microsoft Office button in the top left corner of the Access window and then click "Open." Locate the Access 2003 file you wish to open in Access 2007 and view the file name. If the Access 2003 file extension is already ".mdb," which is often the case, skip steps 2 and 3.
- 2). Open Microsoft Access 2003 and click the Microsoft Office button at the top left corner of the Access window. Click "Open." Double-click the Access 2003 file you wish to use in Access 2007.
- 3). Click the Microsoft Office button again and click "File" and then "Save As." Enter a name for the file. Click the "Save as Type" drop-down menu, and select the file format ".mdb." Click "Save."
- 4). Open Microsoft Access 2007, click the Microsoft Office button in the top left corner of the Access window and then click "Open."
- 5). Select the Microsoft Access 2003 file you just saved with the extension ".mdb" and click "Open."
- 6). Click the Microsoft Office button and click "Save As." Select "Save the Database in Another Format" and choose "Access 2007 Database," which will convert the file to the ".accdb" extension. If you have any database objects open, Access will prompt you to close them before creating the copy. Click "Yes" to allow Access to close the objects, or click "No" to cancel the save process. Access will ask whether you would like to save any changes before closing the objects.
- 7). Type in the desired file name into the file name box and click "Save." Access will create a copy of the database and then open the new copy, which is now ready to edit in Access 2007. The original database will automatically close.
