Enjoy Your Blackberries Because You Know How To Remove The Stains
Blackberries are one of my favorite berries. I have wonderful memories of going blackberry picking and coming home with a bucket full of black jewels. There's no better pie or jam!
But, they do stain! Learn how to remove the stains from clothes.
Blackberries like all fruits produce a tannin stain - a stain with a plant component that often shows as a color in the final product. And, with blackberries, the color is so intense it can be used to naturally dye fabric.
Fresh tannin stains can usually be removed by washing the garment or table linens using detergent in the hottest water recommended for the fabric.
Never use natural soap in a bar or soap flakes because they make blackberry stains more difficult to remove. Older blackberry stains may need to be treated with bleach. Chlorine bleach can be used on white garments and linens. Use color-safe bleach for colored fabrics.
If the garment is dry clean only, point out and identify the stain to your professional cleaner. If you are using a home dry cleaning kit, be sure to treat the stain with the provided stain remover before putting the garment in the dryer bag.
