How Long Can a Peeled Hard Boiled Egg Stay Fresh in the Refrigerator?
- Make sure you refrigerate eggs at 45°F or colder and do not freeze.
- Hard-boiled, peeled eggs may be stored in the fridge, in a bowl of cold water. Make sure the eggs are completely submerged and change the water often--at least daily--to discourage bacterial growth.
- You can also cover your hard-boiled eggs with damp paper towels and store in a container with a tight lid.
- Try not to leave hard-boiled eggs, especially peeled ones, at room temperature for too long. Hard-boiled eggs on a buffet, peeled or unpeeled, should be kept over ice. If you are ever in doubt about an egg's safety, dispose of it.
- For best quality, your eggs should really be used within a few days of cooking. Peeled hard-boiled eggs can create an unpleasant odor in your refrigerator if kept uncovered. They can also pick up odors from strong-smelling foods.
