Running Out of Space on My iPod Touch
- You may be receiving the message in error if you disconnected your iPod during a previous sync. When your iPod is connected to iTunes, look at its capacity; if there is still some "Other" space remaining, the message is an error. To address it, turn off the photo and music sync options for your device in iTunes and click "Apply." Then turn the photo and music sync options back on and click "Apply" again.
- If your iPod really is running out of storage space, you will need to turn off iTunes' automatic syncing process; otherwise you will encounter an error message every time you connect your iPod. Click the "Summary" tab for your device in iTunes and deselect "Automatically sync when this iPhone (or iPod) is connected." Then select "Sync only checked songs and videos."
- To change the content on an iPod that is full, you will need to manually sync it after you have deactivated automatic syncing. Choose to sync only some files as opposed to your whole music library. To do this, manually select and deselect individual songs or playlists and other files on the corresponding tabs in iTunes. Then click "Apply" when you are ready to sync.
- If you continue to have trouble syncing, try restoring your iPod with iTunes. Make sure the latest version of iTunes is installed on your computer. Select the "Summary" tab on your device and click "Restore." Back up the device when prompted if you have not done this recently.
