Problems Syncing Runs on My iPod
- It is frustrating when you cannot sync your iPod to your iTunes, and you don't know what is causing the problem. Until it is fixed, you cannot update your iPod and listen to any new music. There are a few reasons for syncing problems, including an outdated version of iTunes. But there are procedures to fix them.
- Updates for iTunes carry with them vital software improvements that will make your device last longer and perform efficiently. Your iTunes version may be outdated. Have iTunes search for the latest update, which the software should install automatically.
- Downloading software unrelated to iTunes, can cause problems with the syncing process. This is true of software installed to assist with an external hard drive on an iPad. This could be the result of the software automatically seeing the iPad as a storage device and tampering with the sync. If this is the case, then software should be removed before another sync is attempted.
- Problems can also occur due to faults with the equipment. The computer may be unaware that a device is even attached. Check the USB cable, the port on the iPod and the port on the computer to see if they are all in working condition. Also, a low battery on the iPod may prevent a sync because there is not enough life left in the device to complete the process.
- Without your knowledge, you may have imported a damaged audio or photo file into your iTunes library. A file like this cannot be transferred to your iPod and would stop the sync. Unfortunately, there is no quick method to finding the file. But the file should be deleted once located.
- Errors that have built up within the iTunes software can cause lack of activity when trying to sync. Correct this by completely removing iTunes from the computer before fully re-installing and attempting another sync.
- The auto-sync function can lead to an iPod sync with your computer that erases all the music on your player. This occurs if you have had to wipe all the music from your iTunes library and then synced the iPod with the software. To avoid, this turn off auto-sync.
