How to Index in WordPerfect
- 1). Identify a word or phrase and select it with your mouse.
- 2). Choose "Tools," "Reference," then "Index" from the WordPerfect menu to bring up the Index tab in the Reference Tools dialog box.
- 3). Click in the "Heading" text box. WordPerfect will copy the word or phrase you selcted into this box.
- 4). Click in the "Subheading" text box to make your word or phrase a subheading, then type what heading you want it to appear under in the "Heading" text box. You don't have to match the exact text for your heading or subheading to the text appearing in your book.
- 5). Click the "Mark" button to finish the entry.
- 6). Choose "Tools," "Reference," then "Index" when you have finished making your index entries to display the index Reference Tools dialog box, then click the "Define" button.
- 7). Click "OK" to choose the default settings or make adjustments to the style for your index and then click "OK."
- 8). Click "Generate" in the Reference Tools dialog box to create the index.
