RAM and Hard-Drive Space

• To install Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Standard, Design Premium and Web Premium, you need at least 1 gigabyte of RAM. You need at least 2 GB to deploy CS5.5 Production Premium and Master Collection. You need 7.7 GB of free disk space to install Design Standard on a Windows machine and 8.2 GB if you own a Mac. The number rises to 9.3 GB for Windows and 10.3 GB for Mac to install Design Premium. Setting up Web Premium requires 9.1 GB on Windows machines and 11.2 GB on Macs. Production Premium needs 16.3 GB on Windows systems and 20.6 GB on Mac machines. Plan on 24.3 GB to set up Master Collection on a Windows device and 26.3 GB on a Mac. Adobe also notes that every version requires an unspecified amount of additional free space during installation and the software cannot be installed on a removable flash storage device.
  
  

Processor

• Windows users need an Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 64 processor to install Design Standard, Design Premium or Web Premium, while Mac users need a multicore Intel processor. You need a processor with 64-bit support to take advantage of all the features offered by CS5.5 Web Premium and Master Collection. Windows owners require at least an Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 64 processor, but Adobe recommends an Intel Core i3, i, or i7 or AMD Phenom II. Adobe notes that an Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Phenom II is required for Adobe Premiere Pro. Mac users need a multicore Intel processor.
  
  

Monitor and Graphics Card

• You'll require a 1024 by 768 pixel display to run Design Standard, although Adobe recommends measurements of 1280 by 800 pixels. The latter measurement is a requirement for Design Premium and Web Premium, although the recommendation for these products is 1280 by 1024 pixels. Using Production Premium and Master Collection requires a 1280 by 900 pixel monitor, but 1280 by 1024 is recommended. Each monitor needs a qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL graphics card, 16-bit color and 256MB of VRAM. Some GPU-accelerated functions of the software make graphics support for Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0 a must-have.
  
  

Other Requirements

• Each version of the creative suite requires a DVD-ROM compatible with dual-layer DVDs. Windows users who want to use Adobe Bridge need a DirectX 9--capable graphics card with at least 64MB of VRAM. Owners of Production Premium and Master Collection need a 7,200-RPM hard drive for editing compressed video formats and RAID 0 for uncompressed formats.
