Light Bulb Blocks

• Purchase glass blocks from a home improvement store or construction supply stores and use with strands of Christmas lights. Using a diamond drill bit, carefully drill a large hole into the back of the block. The hole should be large enough to fit the bulbs through. Gently push one end of the light strand through the hole, using the end that does not plug into an outlet. Keep pushing the strand through, until just the end is hanging out. When the lights are plugged in, the colors bounce around the inside of the glass block, making a unique home decoration.
  
  

Light Bulb Characters

• Use a burned out A-shaped light bulb to create a Santa Clause decoration. Opt for a light bulb like those used in home lamps, such as a 1-7/8 size, up to 2-7/8 size. Paint the outside of the bulb with red, black and white paint, making the Santa Clause face. Glue white cotton balls to the bulb for Santa's beard and place a small Santa hat on top. If the top of the light bulb easily comes away, fill the inside with white cotton batting or cotton balls. Screw the top back onto the light bulb and decorate the outside to make the snowman's face. Use a black marker to make the face.
  
  

Decoupage Light Bulbs

• Decoupage old Christmas bulbs, of at least 1-7/8 inch size, with pieces of wrapping paper and craft paper. Cut the paper into small pieces of different shapes. Coat the bulbs with a thin layer of glue and lightly press the paper onto the glue. Keep adding more glue and paper to make interesting patterns and designs on the bulbs. Glue miniature pieces of garland and other decorations to the top of each bulb.
  
  

Light Bulb Wreath

• Arrange old Christmas light bulbs into a large circular shape and glue each bulb to the ones on either side. Use at least a C6 size, which is the same size used in older strands of lights. Make a second arrangement of bulbs, making the circle slightly smaller. Glue the second circle on top of the bottom circle. Keep making circles of bulbs and gluing those onto the bottom layers, until the wreath is the size and thickness you want. The wreath is fairly delicate because of the glass bulbs and best suited for indoor display.
