  Using custom external drives will allow you to load applications or games into Wii without voiding your warranty when you open the system. Although it is possible to install physical devices inside the case, this voids your warranty and adds the risk that an inexperienced user will perform permanent damage to the device's internal components. There are a number of external disk drives that are compatible with the Wii, all of which can be connected using an available USB slot on the machine.

• The ASUS 08D1S was designed to work for both PC and consoles and supports standard and double layer DVD discs for enhanced storage capacity. It comes with a standing base and can be mounted next to your Wii on top of a table or television.
