    Battery Life Tips

    • The iPhone 2G comes with a standard lithium-ion battery that, when fully charged, provides the phone with up to 250 hours, or 10.4 days, of standby and up to eight hours of talk time. Compared to similar models on the market in May 2011, these times rank on par with the eight-hour average for talk time and below the 448-hour average for standby time. There are a variety of things you can do to get the most out of the device's battery life, such as minimizing the display screen's brightness, disconnecting the phone's Wi-Fi capability when not in use and turning off the phone's background data function.

    Memory Tips

    • Available in 4, 8 and 16GB memory capacities, the iPhone 2G provides plenty of space for stored content, such as apps, photos and music. Unlike other smartphones, the iPhone 2G does not come with a Secure Digital card slot for expanded memory. Other than purchasing another iPhone with more memory, there is a way to maximize the amount of memory available to you. By periodically checking the phone's content, you can identify and get rid of files you don't use or want any longer.

    Connectivity Tips

    • Using a personal computer to add content and synchronize data is made possible through a USB connection with the iPhone 2G. With Bluetooth wireless technology, the iPhone 2G provides two profile options: hands-free (HFP) and headset (HSP). The HFP profile provides two-way, hands-free calling through the phone's built-in speakerphone, while the HSP profile provides the same function, but through a wireless headset. The enhanced data rate optional Bluetooth feature is also supported by the iPhone 2G, providing faster data rate (speed) and, in some cases, prolonged battery life.

    Miscellaneous Tips

    • With such large amounts of memory, the iPhone 2G supports a virtually unlimited amount of contacts with multiple numbers and photo and ringtone ID. Photo ID allows you to assign a custom picture to each contact that appears whenever the person calls you or you call them. Ringtone ID gives you the ability to add a pre-installed or custom ringtone to each contact that will sound when that person calls you. The iPhone 2G only supports text messages, but does provide a platform for mobile email through a connection to a Post Office Protocol (POP3) or Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP4) server.
