My Top 5 List of Healthy Snacks

Below is my top 5 list of healthy snacks.
More and more people are starting to eat smarter by consuming 5-6 small meals throughout the day.
They are not focusing their menu on one large meal at the end of the day.
They find themselves looking for easy convenient small snacks throughout the day.
I do have to mention however that the quality of the snacks you eat does matter.
The best foods are whole unprocessed organic foods, foods that are as close to nature intended them as possible.
The following list is in no particular order: 1.
Fruits are one of nature's greatest food sources.
They are rich in vitamins and fiber.
Also talk about being handy they even have their own biodegradable packaging.
2.
Vegetables also are a handy snack food and although they might not be your first choice, if you eat a serving as a snack you can skip adding them to a later meal.
3.
Nuts are one of my favorite snacks.
You do have to be careful not to overindulge.
Walnuts, pecans, and almonds are some of my favorites but I recently read an article stating that pistachios can give the other nuts a run for their money when it comes to nutrition.
A one-ounce serving of pistachios has over 30 vitamins, minerals and other nutrients.
4.
Ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, and I am also lumping yogurt in here with them at number 4.
I am including yogurt because many people find it difficult for instance to eat plain cottage cheese.
So you can mix the yogurt with the cottage or ricotta cheese.
5.
Dark chocolate is the last of my top 5 list.
Dark chocolate should not be eaten excessively.
Although it is loaded with antioxidants it still contains a lot of calories.
This list is obviously by no means exhaustive and is not necessarily the best or worst list it is just my pick of the top healthy snacks.
I like this list for one simple reason.
It is easy to mix and match items for a variety of snacks.
One day you can have yogurt with cottage cheese, fruit, and nuts.
You could also mix ricotta cheese with one half of a smashed avocado for a quick sort of guacamole to dip vegetables into.
The combinations are only limited by your imagination.
