Funny Christmas Party Invitation Ideas

If you're planning on having a Christmas party this year, you may want to be especially creative with your invitations so that guests will be even more excited about attending. Using humor and the overall happiness of the season can help you come up with invitations that your guests will still be talking about next Christmas. - Record yourself giving all the details of your Christmas party to your guests (i.e., time of the party, location and date) onto DVD. Dress in a Santa Claus costume or a bulky Christmas sweater for the invitation. Include a festive holiday backdrop and Christmas carols in the background as you encourage your friends and loved ones to attend your celebration. Add text to the invitation so that guests will remember the party details, as well as an RSVP phone number or email address so that you'll know how many guests will be in attendance.
- Create a Christmas party invitation in the shape of mistletoe, and include all your party information on the mistletoe leaves. Attach a Hershey's kiss to the invitations, stating that according to tradition, your mistletoe comes with a "kiss." This party invitation is ideal for couple's Christmas parties, and is also a good idea if you're planning a party so that your single friends can mingle and perhaps find someone with whom they'd like to spend the holidays.
- Print invitations in the shape of a dollar sign or the hat worn by Ebenezer Scrooge. Give the invitation a humorously grumpy tone by stating that you just want to get this Christmas party over with, and then give the necessary celebration details. If you're having a Christmas potluck where each guest is asked to bring a dish or dessert, you can jokingly tell everyone that you're trying to make this the cheapest Christmas ever. Don't forget to add your RSVP information so you'll have enough seating and food for everyone.
- Use a humorous picture of yourself for an original holiday invitation template that your guests may want to preserve as a keepsake. If the party will be held at your home, have someone take a picture of you "slaving away" in the kitchen, with frizzy hair, flour on your face and a torn apron. If you're known for hosting holiday events with fabulous food and drinks, a photo of yourself "asleep" by the Christmas tree with empty holiday candy and cookie wrappers all around you will remind your guests of the holiday treats you're famous for. For a family-friendly Christmas celebration, take a candid family portrait of you and your loved ones, and use it as the backdrop for the invitation. A photo of you and your family members making funny faces with Santa hats on, or a group shot of everyone in their bulkiest, most decorative Christmas sweater is sure to keep invitees laughing, and will provide an indication of the laughs that will be exchanged at the holiday event.
