How to Clean a Rotary Sewing Machine
- 1). Remove the screws on the needle plate with a small screwdriver and lift the plate away from your sewing machine. This plate is located directly beneath the needle.
- 2). Remove the bobbin case from the area beneath the needle plate.
- 3). Clean the area under the needle plate with a small stiff-bristled brush. Remove all lint, threads and dust inside this space.
- 4). Apply one drop of sewing machine oil to the edge of the round opening where the bobbin case is normally located. Spread this oil around the edge of the case with a clean lint-free cloth.
- 5). Remove the screws that hold on the front part of the top of the sewing machine. This will reveal the entire needle assembly, which is the part of the machine that makes the needle move.
- 6). Brush the exposed needle assembly to remove all dirt and lint.
- 7). Apply one or two drops of sewing machine oil to the moving parts of the needle assembly and spread the oil with your lint-free cloth.
- 8). Clean the bobbin case with an all-purpose cleaner and a rag. Dry the bobbin case completely and return it to the machine.
- 9). Replace the needle plate and the part of the sewing machine that covers the needle assembly.
- 10
Spray all-purpose cleaner onto a clean rag and wipe down the outside of the rotary sewing machine.
