How to Soothe and Heal Dry, Cracked Hands
- 1). Wash your hands gently with a moisturizing soap and luke warm water to rid them of any dirt and germs. Fill your sink with 5 cups warm water and 2 tablespoons of salt. Stir a few times to dissolve the salt. Soak both hands for three to five minutes.
- 2). With wet hands, apply 2 tablespoons of salt to one palm and rub over your hands, front and back, using a light scrubbing motion to exfoliate and remove excess dry skin. Pat dry with a cotton towel.
- 3). Apply a heavy moisturizing cream or ointment, such as petroleum jelly. Rub your hands together gently until they are completely coated. Your hands will feel greasy, so avoid touching anything.
- 4). Put on a pair of light weight cotton gloves to protect your hands. Keep the gloves on for at least an hour.
