How to Lift a Large Fish Onto a Pier

    • 1). Tire the fish out by allowing it to swim away with your line. Pull up and reel in the slack when the fish isn't pulling. Let the fish swim away whenever it has energy.

    • 2). Hold your rod out over the pier to avoid tangling the fish on the pier foundation. Lower the drop net once your see that the fish has little energy. Lift the fish and guide it into the drop net once it's in position. Chances are, the fish will find more energy and take off again.

    • 3). Continue to fight the fish until it is tired. Attempt to retrieve it with the drop net. Remember to hold on to the other end of the rope. Once the fish is in the net, put your rod down and pull the fish up with the rope until it is at the pier railing. Grab the net and haul your fish onto the pier.
