How to Make an ATC Collage
- 1). Start your artist trading cards by painting layers of pleasing colors on larger sheets of watercolor paper. Let the colors bleed and run in whatever way you want.
- 2). Cut your painted watercolor paper or card stock into 2.5-by-3.5-inch cards. If you elected not to paint any backgrounds, you can cut a piece of card stock with a 3-by-4-inch opening and use this as a frame to select magazine photos. When you find photos in magazines that you like, trace around the inside of your frame and then cut them out.
- 3). Glue your photos or your painted background to your card stock. Rubber cement may work better on thinner paper such as magazine photos.
- 4). Add various layers of paint, stamped images, additional photos, or drawn or painted images to your card.
- 5). Arrange your flat images as desired and glue them in place.
- 6). Add found objects such as mechanical pieces from watches, buttons, ribbon and other collected ephemera to your ATC. When you have finalized your arrangement, glue the items to the card.
- 7). Coat your trading card with a decoupage medium to protect it.
