Job Description For a Core Quality Control Worker
- A core quality-control worker is responsible for ensuring products that are manufactured at the facility are legal and meet the expectations of the customers. To ensure the proper execution of products, a quality-control worker organizes programs that will help the facility and its workers meet the demands of the industry while maintaining safety for the workers and for the public. Programs include testing and an analysis of what is needed to deliver the highest-quality products.
- She must write and deliver a quality-control program manual, either to each employee or to a location in which every employee has access. Each day, she must ensure that every aspect of the facility and its employees are meeting or exceeding the requirements set out by the quality-control program manual. If not, she ensures corrective measures are set in place. The employee is also responsible for working with contractors and facilitating their employment with the company.
- A bachelor's degree in processing and manufacturing is needed. A degree in business, food science, technology and management are sought after by employers. Job experience is considered an asset. The applicant may choose to take other training as is necessary for some specialty quality-control jobs, such as that for a car manufacturer. Due to the extensive work with employees, training in written and verbal communication is considered an asset when applying for the job.
- The employee needs to be able to motivate people to perform in their roles as members of a team. Occasionally, issues will arise when the worker needs to solve problems. For example, if a machine isn't operating efficiently, he needs to find an employee, or hire a person, who is experienced in maintenance. He is an important component of a larger team and needs to ensure everyone is on the same page and coordinated.
