Remove Faulty Top Eye

• 1). Disconnect the power to the Frigidaire stove by either turning off the circuit breaker or pulling the power cord from the electrical outlet. To access the power cord, remove the bottom warming drawer and reach inside the drawer cavity to reach the power cord.
  
  
• 2). Open the oven door and locate the two screws under the top panel. Remove the screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Lift the front of the top panel and prop the top panel up with a 28-inch wooden or plastic rod, placing the rod under the top panel and on top of the stove sub frame. Alternatively, ask a friend to hold the top panel while you are replacing the eye.
  
  
• 3). Note the location of the mounting clips on the eye that you are replacing. The mounting clips snap into the support channel that covers the eye. The eye mounting clips must install the same way when you replace the eye.
  
  
• 4). Place small tabs of masking tape around each wire connecting to the eye terminals. Write the terminal identification of each wire on the tape with a pencil. Pull the wire ends off the eye terminals with a pair of needle nose pliers.
  
  
• 5). Close the open tab on the mounting clips with a pair of pliers. The tabs have small wings that open and close. Remove the screw securing the support channel to the stove top nearest the faulty eye with a nut driver.
  
  
• 6). Pull the support channel away from the eye while sliding the eye away from the stove top. Remove the mounting clips from the faulty eye and install them on the new eye. The screw holes where the mounting clips secure to the eye are numbered. Note the numbered locations so that you place each clip in the same numbered location on the new eye.
  
  

Install New Top Eye

• 1). Slide the new eye between the support channel and the bottom of the stove top. Insert the clips into the support channel until the wing tabs open to secure the eye to the channel. Secure the channel to the stove top with the securing screw.
  
  
• 2). Place the wire ends on their respective terminals on the new eye according the terminal identifications you wrote earlier on the tape. Slide each end over the terminal until it snaps into place. Remove the masking tape from the wires.
  
  
• 3). Lower the top panel and line up the mounting holes under the front of the panel. Secure the top panel with the retaining screws. Close the oven door and turn the power back on to the Frigidaire stove.
