How to Make Your Own Stone Poultice
- 1). Mix a white absorbent material such as baking soda with equal parts of dishwashing liquid in a glass bowl to create a stone poultice. Make the poultice a thick paste.
- 2). Wet a sponge with distilled water and squeeze the water onto the stone. This fills in the holes of the stone.
- 3). Apply the poultice to the stain with a plastic knife. Make the paste about ¼ to ½ inch in height. When applied to the stone, the poultice absorbs the stain.
- 4). Place plastic wrap over the poultice and use tape to hold down the edges.
- 5). Leave the stone poultice on the stain for 24 to 48 hours. In some cases you may need to reapply the stone poultice to get rid of all the stain.
- 6). Remove the plastic wrap and tape. Scrap off the paste with the plasic knife.
- 7). Wipe the stone clean with a damp sponge.
