How to Make DVDs Out of VHS Tapes
- 1). Connect a set of RCA audio and video cables to the "Video Out" and "Audio Out" outputs on the back of your VCR. These outputs will be color-coded as yellow for video, white for left audio channel and red for right audio channel. If your VCR has mono sound, you will not have an output for the right audio channel and will need to connect an RCA Y-splitter to the "Audio Out" jack.
- 2). Plug the other ends of the RCA audio and video cables to the "Video In" inputs on your DVD video recorder.
- 3). Press the "Power" button on both the DVD video recorder and the VCR.
- 4). Insert the VHS tape you want to convert to DVD. Rewind or fast-forward the VHS tape to the point where you want the DVD to begin.
- 5). Insert a blank recordable DVD disc into your DVD video recorder. Check your DVD recorder specifications for what type of recordable DVD disc to use.
- 6). Press the "Record" button on your DVD video recorder, then press the "Play" button on the VCR.
- 7). Wait for the VCR to to finish playing the VHS tape. Press "Stop" on both units when you are finished. The VHS tape has now been transferred to the blank DVD disc.
