How to Seal a Conduit End
- 1). Unscrew the lid from a tin of PVC cement, and pull out the brush attached to the inside of the lid.
- 2). Brush PVC cement around the outside end of the conduit pipe. Next, brush cement around the inside end of the PVC end cap.
- 3). Push the end cap quickly onto the pipe end, holding it in place for 10 seconds while the cement sets. If the cap is not held in place, the glue may cause the cap to partially slip off the pipe before setting in place. Screw the lid back onto the cement bottle.
- 1). Brush the thread on the end of the conduit pipe with a wire bush to remove any dirt or metal fragments.
- 2). Screw the steel end cap onto the threaded conduit pipe end by hand; the end cap has an interior female thread.
- 3). Place a pipe wrench around the end cap. Holding the wrench's handle, turn the wrench clockwise to tighten the cap to the conduit pipe.
