Toronto, Ontario prides itself on being a truly multicultural city in the heart of a country of immigrants. The city is home to a substantial number of new Canadians representing virtually every country on earth. In practical terms, this means that the cultural mosaic of Toronto is littered with small ethnic enclaves that feature shops and restaurants from every nation. In recent years, Toronto has been a destination for people from many African nations. The result is that the city is now home to many excellent African restaurants. - The Sultan's Tent offers guests a complete immersive experience. As you enter the restaurant, you pass a tapestry that was presented to the owner by the former King of Morocco. Elsewhere, the dining room is richly decorated with exotic fabrics, pillows and antiques. The Sultan's Tent offers a four-course prix fixe menu with many options. You may wish to start with the warm duck breast salad followed by the Moroccan crab cakes. As a main, try the beef short rib which is glazed with Moroccan spices and finished with a wine demi glace. For dessert, try the Moroccan cookies and pastries. Live musicians and belly-dancers perform regularly, so call ahead for more details.

The casual dining room sports large contemporary paintings, bright colors and lots of African flavor. Diners use a piece of injera to scoop up ingredients that are presented on a platter in the center of the table. The menu includes many types of meat dishes, such as "Quanta Fer-Fer", which is strips of beef prepared with African spices, dried and served in small pieces. There are also plenty of vegetarian options.
