• A 6-year-old girl is in the first grade and school supplies are exciting. Choose a backpack in purple, pink or aqua, as these colors generally appeal to girls of that age. • Having a hardbound book published about the child will be a thrill for her. Gather drawings and essays that the child has completed.They can be school projects that she did especially well or projects at home that she enjoyed doing. Crafting Sneakers

• Shoes are an important fashion statement for a 6-year-old girl. They love sneakers and love lots of bling. Present her with a plain pair of white sneakers in her size. Fill a box with craft supplies she can use to decorate the shoes. Include things like rhinestones, glitter, glue, fabric paint and permanent magic markers. She will have hours of fun decorating her new shoes. An adult needs to be on hand to lend her a little assistance with the glue.
  
  

An Artist's Set

• Every little girl has an artistic side that needs to be nurtured. A gift of artist's supplies is something she can enjoy for a long time. The supplies can include an easel, watercolor paints, brushes, tempera paint, a large tablet of paper, crayons and pencils. It is important that the paints are age-appropriate. Oil and acrylic paints are not appropriate for that age because of the mess involved.
