    • 1). Position the iPod face down on a flat surface with the side containing the iPod dock facing you. Insert the iPod pry tool into the gap between the metallic back and the black case.

    • 2). Push downward lightly on the pry tool handle until you hear a "click." Insert the second iPod pry tool into the gap and slowly work the tool around the case. The metal cover on the back will become looser as you do this.

    • 3). Pull off the cover with your thumb and index finger after you've pried open at least halfway around the cover. Continue prying open the case if you are unable to pull off the cover.

    • 4). Insert the pry tool into the wedge between the battery and the iPod body. The battery is glued down by black pads on the inside of the case. Push down on the pry tool to slowly pop the battery out. Move along the perimeter of the battery until it begins to pop out by itself. Pull the battery away from the rest of the iPod. The battery will still be attached to the device through wiring.

    • 5). Place the battery down flat next to the iPod. Cut the red, black and white wires using the electric wire cutter. The battery has now been completely removed from your iPod Touch.
