Facilities Management jobs provides construction, reconstruction, upkeep and repair resources, grounds' care, custodial, trash and recycling and other services for buildings and facilities.
The term facility management has similarities to property management though not really the same.
While both manage the day to day operations of a facility the property such as cleaning, maintenance and security, like Janitors, one must not confuse it with such a title.
The property executive has an expanded role which includes leasing and marketing activities while the facility manager role focuses on existing tenants who sometimes are owner occupants.
An important feature of facility management is that it takes account of human desires of its tenants in the use of buildings and other made facilities.
These softer factors complement the harder factors linked with the maintenance and care of engineering services installations.
There are essentially two types of facilities management jobs Soft FM jobs and Hard FM jobs.
The terms soft and hard kind of describes it pretty well.
The industry outlines Hard FM jobs as the upkeep of buildings, engineering, landscaping and similar elements of an asset.
The most recognizable elements being mechanical and electric plant, air conditioning plant, building fabric, landscaping both internal and external and a number of expert areas such as lifts, protection systems, CCTV and water systems.
The industry outlines Soft FM jobs as the issues associated with the upkeep of a facility - the most recognizable elements being cleaning, security, catering, reception, telephony, help desk and reprographics.
A major challenge facing facility owners is reducing demand for energy for industrial reasons, but also because energy usage goes side by side with carbon emissions.
Reducing energy in the operational phase of a facility's life in a similar way decreases carbon emissions.
When thinking about that 30-40% of a nation's total carbon emissions is attributable to buildings and other assembled facilities, it is clear that operations and, hence, facility management have a significant role to play.
Here are some responsibilities someone has to do when doing FM jobs: 1.
Be an active representative of Campus Recreation and Wellness at all times.
Give feedback and ideas with acceptable reason when necessary.
2.
Maintain general safety and security, monitor access, and maintain appearance and overall environment of Campus Recreation and Wellness facilities.
3.
Attend staff conferences and trainings.
4.
Help with management of locker rooms, locker room lockers, and day lockers.
5.
Take part in reviewing, interviewing, hiring, coaching, supervisor, and assessing of new staff.
