IPod Playlist Transfer Problems
- If you own an iPod Classic, Nano or Shuffle, iTunes allows you to transfer playlists to your device, but not from it, making transfers a one-way street. Unaware of this, many users become frustrated when iTunes prevents an iPod-to-computer transfer. The iPod Touch offers the only exception to the rule, though in a limited capacity. Because the iPod Touch can purchase songs directly from the iTunes Store, Apple has installed a "Transfer Purchases" feature that allows you to create backups on your computer.
- DRM stands for "digital rights management." Until early 2009, all songs purchased via iTunes had DRM coding that limited a song's playability to only five computers. You cannot transfer DRM-encoded music to your iPod without an authorized account.
- "Error 13019" describes syncing issues between iPods and both the Mac and PC versions of iTunes 8 and 9. Apple recommends upgrading to iTunes 10 or higher to resolve the issue.
- "Error 13001" indicates errors in your iTunes library. Missing or corrupt files generally cause library errors. Apple recommends rebuilding your iTunes library to resolve the issue. For Windows users, Apple cautions that viruses may cause this error.
