Installing an alarm system on your Nevada home comes with many benefits. You'll save money on your homeowner's insurance premiums, you'll deter criminals from trying to break in, and monitored systems will automatically call for the fire department, police department or an ambulance should an emergency arise. But with so many Nevada home security installation companies out there, how do you choose the right one?

Ask for Referrals - The best way to find a good installation company is to ask the people in your social network for recommendations. Ask friends, family and business associates about who they have done business with in the past. Try to get at least three names so you have a good list from which to choose.

Do Some Research - Take your list of names to the nearest computer and go to the company websites. Poke around until you find their biographical and contact information. You'll want to avoid doing business with companies that haven't been around for very long or who are not local to you. What you should look for is a company with a proven track record for successful installations whom you can visit in person.

Check for Current Licensing - Licensing is required in Nevada to install home security systems. Look for the license number on the company's website. If you can't find it, call the store and get it. Then call the state licensing department to verify they are current.

Check Their BBB Rating - Nobody is perfect. Having said that, check the security company's rating on the Better Business Bureau website. They should have at least a B rating. Read the complaints and make sure they have been resolved. A lot of unresolved complaints usually indicate a problem and you should avoid doing business with that company.

Read Online Reviews - Social media is your friend, especially when it comes to getting honest feedback about how the business treats their customers. Use a search engine to find reviews of the company by previous clients. Again, nobody is perfect and you may find some complaints. A few are okay, however, pages and pages of nothing but negative feedback indicates you should look for someone else to install your system.

Contact Previous References Directly - Call the store manager and request the contact information for previous customers willing to discuss their experience with the business. Ask those customers specific question regarding the installer's skills, attention to detail, and customer service. Ask them if they would do business with the company again or recommend them to friends or family.
